Lenten Season: Easter Lunch

dining tableAfter a week of pure fish and vegetables, Papa chose to have an Easter Sunday Korean lunch at the comfort of our very own home.

Jun cooked the samgyupsal, beef bulgogi, tofu, and ramyun while I did the kimchi pajeon, steamed spinach w/ sesame oil and  the Korean beef stew.  Of course, this will all not be a complete Korean banquet without the ever present kimchi and soyabean paste from Masan Garden.

Pinoy Tradition: Antipolo Lenten Alay Lakad

inside Antipolo ChurchThis year 2012, Papa, Bea and I decided to do our yearly tradition of Maundy Thursday's Visita Inglesia at Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, Antipolo City via the alay lakad.

Alay lakad is one of the Filipino religious traditions during Holy Week.   It is practically and literally walking all the way to the Antipolo Cathedral.   There were people quietly praying and even walking on barefoot - sans shoes or slippers as part of their panata; but sadly though, there were also a lot of people, mostly groups of teen-agers, whose sincerity was not reflected on their overly zealous and rabid actions.

Lenten Season: Easter Dinner

After attending the Easter Sunday Holy Mass at the St. Paul of the Cross Parish, we decided to celebrate and have a Japanese Easter dinner.  We tried Tamagoya! Noodle House, a relatively new Japanese restaurant along Soliven Ave., Mayamot, Antipolo (a few meters away from Sumulong Highway).

Upon entering the restaurant, we were welcomed by the jolly greetings all the way from their parking attendant, down to their cashier, waiters and other restaurant personnel.

Lenten Season: Visita Iglesia

Cruzes
It is our family's tradition to visit churches during the Lenten Season.

For several years, we did the  traditional Visita Iglesia, alternately in Quezon City, Pasig City, Manila and Marikina City.

Lenten Season: 2009

It was a meaningful and new experience for Bea during the lenten season of 2009.
